Dr Nowhera Shaik, President of the All India Mahila Empowerment Party, is positioned to address a multitude of critical issues in Mizoram, assuming her party comes to power.

Apart from the fundamental challenges like healthcare facilities, electricity access, clean drinking water, education, and tackling unemployment, her focus extends to resolving ongoing boundary disputes with Assam, combatting the escalating drug influx, and addressing the repercussions of previous clashes at the Assam-Mizoram border, which continue to cast a shadow over the region.

An effective strategy for resolving boundary disputes with neighboring Assam will be pursued to ensure lasting peace and security for the residents of Mizoram. A robust security apparatus will be implemented to safeguard the state’s borders and tackle issues related to drug trafficking.

Handling the refugee crisis stemming from the ethnic conflict in Manipur is a paramount concern. Comprehensive policies for rehabilitation and support of the 72,000 refugees sheltered in Mizoram will be enacted. This includes efforts to facilitate their reintegration and provide humanitarian aid.

Revisiting the historic issue of Zo unification, dormant since the 1986 peace accord, is on the agenda. By fostering unity among the Mizo-Zo community across northeastern states, we aim to strengthen regional solidarity and cooperation.

The party is committed to promoting development initiatives and eradicating corruption within the state’s administrative machinery. Transparent governance, efficiency, and ethical conduct will be prioritized.

The Mizoram Liquor (Prohibition) Act of 2019, supported by the Church, will be reviewed to address concerns while respecting cultural values and social harmony.

Respecting and preserving the cultural identity of Mizoram while promoting inclusivity and harmony is paramount. Policies that encourage cultural preservation and understanding will be implemented.

The upcoming election offers the people of Mizoram an opportunity for transformative leadership that is well-equipped to tackle the intricate challenges faced by the state. Our party is committed to fostering development, unity, security, and prosperity, reflecting a comprehensive approach to governance.
